FAQ
FOR EVERYONE
I’m a previous client at your former firm– why didn’t you tell me about this earlier?
I was contractually obligated to not discuss my transition until I resigned from my former firm. Now I am allowed to tell you all of the new and exciting opportunities available to service you at the highest level. Please give me a call to learn how this specifically applies to you.
I’m a previous client at your former firm– why haven't you called me?
I was required to delete all information from my devices and return company equipment like laptops. This means that I no longer have your information so if I haven't been able to call you, it's because I'm having difficulty finding you! Please reach out to me so that we may continue our conversation and I am happy to tell you the full story.
Why did you leave?
The short answer is because of you. I want to focus on quality and not on quantity. I didn’t want to be under any mandates to constantly grow at what I view as at the expense of less time for you. My preference is to provide you the highest level of service rather than worrying about how many more clients I need to find.
Will I pay taxes, fees or penalties to move over?
No. We will only incur taxes in non-retirement accounts when we decide to change the investment strategy. In a majority of cases, we will be able to continue the same strategy and modify it over time to minimize adverse tax surprises. For a vast majority of people, there are no fees or penalties to close out your current accounts. We will evaluate each person's accounts to confirm this prior to any transfers. Please speak with us to ensure this applies to you.
How do I come with you?
It will be easy and we will hold your hand through the whole process. First speak with Jason to discuss the changes and make sure this is the right move for you. Then you will work with Kimberly to create and transfer your accounts. After that, Rowena will work with you to get you acquainted with the new setup and recapture your financial planning data.
Are you a fiduciary, and what does that mean?
Absolutely! Being a fiduciary involves two main responsibilities: loyalty and care.
Duty of Loyalty: This means I must prioritize your interests over my own. If there's any conflict of interest, I have to let you know and try to reduce or remove it whenever possible.
Duty of Care: This means I must give you advice that benefits you the most, ensure your transactions are handled in the best way, and keep providing advice and monitoring your situation unless we agree otherwise.
